Appearance Commission and O'Hare Airport Commission Volunteers Sought

The City is currently seeking residents who would like to volunteer and serve as a member of the O’Hare Airport Commission or the Appearance Commission.  Those chosen to be appointed would be required to complete a non-fingerprint criminal background check and maintain an attendance rate of 75%.

The Appearance Commission meets the fourth Wednesday of every month and has jurisdiction over the exterior appearance of all new construction, additions to single-family homes and multi-family dwellings, commercial and institutional structures, to assure their appearance meets community standards. The majority of its members are architects.

The O’Hare Airport Commission provides a forum for public discussion and serves as an advocate for reasonable sound and environmental levels associated with flights flying to and from O'Hare Airport over Park Ridge.  The Commission conducts research; educates the public; and advocates for improvements. The Commission meets the third Wednesday, every other month.

Interested individuals are encouraged complete an application which is available on the City’s website at www.parkridge.us.  Choose the “Our Government” tab and access the Boards and Commissions Application Form on the right side of the webpage.  A hard-copy is also available in the lobby at City Hall.  Your application and resume must be returned to Deputy Clerk Peterson before April 20, 2016 by email, cpeterso@parkridge.us or by fax, 847/318-5300.

Upon receipt of your application, you will be contacted to set up a brief interview with the Mayor’s Advisory Board.  The Mayor’s Advisory Board makes its recommendations of appointments to Acting Mayor Maloney.

Volunteers are an essential part of and a precious resource in our great City.  By donating your time and talent, you are contributing to the spirit of volunteerism within the community, making Park Ridge a better place to live and work.

The Mayor’s Advisory Board is chaired by Alderman Daniel Knight and also includes Aldermen Marc Mazzuca, Nicholas Milissis, and Roger Shubert.
