Acting Mayor Marty Maloney sworn in at City Council Meeting

Alderman Maloney was administered the oath of office for Acting Mayor by City Clerk Betty Henneman at the March 16 City Council Meeting.  Maloney will retain his seat as the Seventh Ward Alderman while exercising the powers of the Mayor, but shall be entitled to vote only in the manner provided for as Alderman.  He will have no veto power.

Maloney was born, raised and attended school in Park Ridge while growing up. He graduated from Maine South High School in 1990 and attended the University of Iowa in Iowa City.  In the years that have followed, Marty has worked in the technology industry selling both software and services to many organizations including Federal, State, and Local Government. He met his wife Lauren in grade school while attending Lincoln Middle School. They were married in 1996.  They have four children, ages 16, 14, 13, and 10.

He served as Park Board Commissioner from May 2003 until April of 2011, During his eight years of involvement in the Park District, he has realized the value of creative problem solving and cooperation.  He is currently completing his first term as Alderman of the 7th Ward and is looks forward to continuing to serve his constituency for another four years through May of 2019.

In the next four years, he hopes to continue to work to help place the City on more solid financial footing as it deals with the impact of the Uptown TIF, to help residents who suffer from flooding in Park Ridge, as well as work to create an environment in which all residents feel connected to their town and have a firm understanding of what is taking place at City Hall.
