Fire Safety Check List

  • Smoke detector(s) should be cleaned periodically.
  • Change the battery in your smoke detector(s) every 6 months.
  • Install a carbon monoxide detector(s).
  • Install a fire extinguisher.
  • Chimney inspected and cleaned yearly.
  • Furnace serviced by a professional yearly.
  • Make an escape plan and practice it.
  • Have a meeting place outside.
  • Don't ever go back inside after leaving for anything.
  • Know how to use 911 in emergencies.
  • Children should know their address and phone number.
  • Are lighters and matches out of the reach of children.
  • Store flammable liquids in a separate building.
  • Store flammable liquids in proper containers.
  • Check storage around the water heater & heating unit.
  • Do you know two ways out of your home.
  • Practice crawling as if to stay under smoke.
  • Practice "Stop, Drop & Roll".
