Fly Quiet Test 3 at O'Hare Airport

The Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA) has obtained approval from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to conduct Fly Quiet Runway Rotation Test 3.  Thirty members of the O’Hare Noise Compatibility Commission (ONCC) voted to approve the third rotation; four members opposed, which included the City of Park Ridge and School District 64. The third test will affect Park Ridge every other week.

The Fly Quiet Test 3 began on July 23, immediately following the conclusion of Fly Quiet Runway Rotation Test 2. The purpose of conducting a third test is to test in real time a runway rotation without the use of Runway 15/33 which is slated to be decommissioned in the spring of 2018.  Test 3 will run for 12 weeks and incorporates 5 runways: 4L/22R, 22L/9R, 10L/28R, 10C/28C and 22L/4R.
