PERMIT, INSPECTIONS & LICENSING ASSISTANT
Full-Time

 

The City of Park Ridge's Community Preservation and Development Department is seeking applicants for the full-time position of Permit, Inspections & Licensing Assistant.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: coordinating building permit applications, tracking permits, following up with applicants, miscellaneous plan review, securing necessary documents prior to permit issuance, reviewing real estate transfer applications, providing information to property owners, contractors and developers regarding the permit and inspection process, and other special tasks as assigned by the Director of Community Preservation and Development.

Minimum requirements include: HS diploma/GED and one year of experience reading and interpreting construction plans and building codes.  The ideal candidate should be familiar with the ICC family of codes, zoning regulations and terminology, and can communicate effectively and tactfully orally and in writing. 

General work hours are Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  Starting salary is $48,000/year plus benefits.  Position is open until filled.

ASSISTANT FINANCE DIRECTOR
Full-Time

 

The City of Park Ridge seeks motivated applicants for the professional position of Assistant Finance Director.  This position reports to the Director of Finance.  Responsibilities include oversight of various operations in the Finance Department including but not limited to: supervision of Accountant and Accounting function, managing annual audit process including preparation of schedules and reconciliations, assisting in preparation of annual budget, assisting in administration of utility billing program, serving as project manager for technical projections including ERP system and related internal controls, verifying and approving purchase orders and invoices, and preparing reports and analysis as  needed for Committee and City Council meetings.  May be asked to attend evening meetings to present data and information to City Council.

Minimum requirements include: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Accounting, 10 years of accounting experience, supervisory experience, and two to three years of progressively responsible experience in governmental accounting or governmental auditing.  CPA and/or CPFO preferred.  General work hours include Monday - Friday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  Starting salary is $92,000 +/- depending on qualifications, plus benefits.  Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF) eligible.  Deadline for posting is February 26, 2018.

FORESTRY INTERN
Temporary/Full-Time
 
 

The City of Park Ridge's Forestry Division is seeking qualified student applicants for a 2018 summer intern position.  Under the supervision of the City Forester, duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Update existing inventory of city trees, including data collection using tablet and measuring tools
  • Assist with tree preservation and site development plan reviews/permits
  • Conduct field surveys for Dutch elm disease, pest infestations and tree maintenance needs
  • Perform related tasks as needed

Desired Skills: ability to identify various local tree species; basic understanding of urban forestry and arboricultural practices; and familiarity with GPS/GIS.  Insect and disease diagnosis is a plus. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated, self-starter with excellent interpersonal skills.

Minimum Qualifications: Position requires current enrollment in, or recent graduation from, a  2 or 4 year program in Forestry, Horticulture, Natural Resources, or related field.  Candidate must possess a valid driver's license and be able to work outside in various summer weather conditions (rain, extreme heat and wind).

General work hours are Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. (37.5 hours per week) beginning in May and lasting approximately 12 weeks.  Starting rate is $11/hour.  Position is open until filled.

PARKING ENFORCEMENT OFFICER
Part-Time

 

The City of Park Ridge's Police Department is seeking applicants for the part-time position of Parking Enforcement Officer.  Duties include, but are not limited to, monitoring parking areas within the City; analyzing parking situations to determine if they are in compliance with established guidelines; issuing citations for improperly parked vehicles; acting as bailiff for adjudication hearings; and assisting the non-emergency police desk.

Excellent customer service skills are necessary. This position requires interaction with the general public, frequent mobility in and out of a motor vehicle, working in various outdoor weather conditions (rain, snow, hot and cold), and operating computerized devices.

General work hours include: weekdays, nights and Saturdays, 20-29 hours per week.  Must have a valid State Driver's License.  Starting hourly rate is $22.09.  Position is open until filled.
