FLEET SUPERVISOR
Full-Time

 

The City of Park Ridge's Public Works Department seeks applicants for the full-time position of Fleet Supervisor.  This position coordinates and oversees day-to-day, emergency, and training activities of mechanics and other assigned personnel repairing, servicing, and maintaining City vehicles and equipment.  Repair and maintenance activities involve a wide variety of equipment and vehicles including small generators, saws, police cars, small tractors, fire trucks, large trucks, and heavy equipment.  This position is that of a 'working' supervisor whereby incumbent also performs same work as employees supervised.  Other desired qualifications:

  • Ability to interpret diagrams, blueprints, catalogs, and work orders; and demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills on the job.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise work of skilled mechanics; analyze and repair defects in light and heavy automotive equipment; and use and/or supervise the use of automotive diagnostic equipment.
  • Ability to prepare bid specifications and budget requests for vehicles and equipment, as well as dispose/sell retired vehicles and equipment.
  • Considerable knowledge of gas and diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulic power systems, automotive and equipment electrical systems, pumps, generators, and welding.
  • Thorough knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and standard practices of the automotive mechanic trade.
  • Working knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions common to fleet maintenance and repair activities.
  • Ability to respond to after-hour calls for vehicle repairs.

Minimum requirements include: H.S. diploma/GED, ASE certification, and Class B driver's license (CDL) from the State of Illinois, or the ability to obtain it within 1 year of hire.  Four to six years of progressively responsible related experience is required.  Two years minimum supervisory experience and ASE Master Certification preferred.  Master Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT) Certification is a plus.

General work hours are Monday - Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., with opportunities for overtime.  Starting salary range is $88,000 to $100,000 depending on qualifications, plus benefits.  Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF) eligible.  Position is open until filled.

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT - COMMUNITY PRESERVATION & DEVELOPMENT
Part-Time

 

The City of Park Ridge's Community Preservation & Development (CP&D) Department seeks qualified applicants for the part-time position of Administrative Assistant.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, answering/direction phone calls, scheduling inspections, processing building permits, interfacing with the general public, data entry and data management, developing and preparing reports, responding to internal and external requests in a timely manner, and other duties as assigned by the Director.  Must be detail-oriented, organized, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.

Minimum requirements include: HS diploma/GED, 3-4 years of experience, proficiency in Microsoft Word, Access, Outlook, and Excel.  Experience working with building permits, building terminology and/or zoning preferred, but not required.  Excellent customer service skills required. This position may require evening hours to attend and to take minutes for City commissions and/or committees.  Average work hours are 29 hours per week, Monday - Friday.  Starting hourly rate is $21.43.  Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF) eligible.  Position is open until filled.

       CROSSING GUARD

 

The City of Park Ridge's Police Department seeks qualified applicants for the part-time position of Crossing Guard. Under general supervision, performs duties associated with assuring the safety of children at designated street crossings.  High school diploma or GED desirable.  Will train.  Starting hourly rate is $14.25.  Positions are open until filled.
