The City of Park Ridge's Community Preservation & Development Department is seeking applicants for seasonal Plans Examiner/Inspector positions. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, conducting plan reviews for compliance with municipal building & zoning codes; performing inspections for structural, mechanical, electrical, and/or plumbing installations in new construction and/or remodels of commercial & residential structures; responding to building-related inquiries and resolving complaints. This position requires frequent interaction with contractors, business owners, and homeowners. Excellent customer service skills required. General knowledge of permitting, zoning, and building preferred. Minimum requirements include: 3 to 5 years of related experience, valid State Driver's License, and HS diploma/GED. ICC certifications preferred, but not required. Flexible work schedule: Monday - Saturday. Average weekly work hours range up to 37.5hrs/wk, plus eligibility for overtime during busy seasons (annual work hours will not exceed 1,000). Starting hourly rate is $28.71. Under general supervision, performs duties associated with assuring the safety of children at designated street crossings. High school diploma or GED (desirable). Will train.
