Let there be Lights this Holiday Season!

Just because the Bedford Falls of "It’s a Wonderful Life" is a fictional place doesn’t mean that friends and neighbors working together for a common civic goal can’t happen in real life.  Which is why a group of community leaders are delighted to announce the formation of the "Park Ridge Holiday Lights Fund (NFP)," an Illinois not-for-profit corporation created to raise funds and hire lighting professionals to turn Uptown and South Park into glowing holiday wonderlands each year.

Park Ridge residents and businesses who wish to help us turn this wonderful goal into a reality can donate to the Park Ridge Holiday Lights Fund (HLF) in one of three ways:

  • Donate online. Please visit ParkRidgeLights.com to donate online, or
  • Drop off your donation. Park Ridge Community Bank, 626 Talcott Road, has generously agreed to take donations. A donation box is available at City Hall, or
  • Mail your donation to the Park Ridge Community Bank, c/o James Kalabokis / Holiday Lights Fund, 626 Talcott Road, PO Box 829, Park Ridge, IL 60068

Park Ridge Community Bank and bank president Tom Carter are key supporters of the HLF effort.  The bank has confirmed that it can accept both walk-in and mail-in donations, for which the bank will keep a detailed accounting and produce regular reports that will be viewable on the HLF website at www.parkridgelights.com.

The idea to form the HLF occurred shortly after a proposal to have the City of Park Ridge coordinate and fund the holiday lights program was not approved by the Park Ridge City Council this summer.  Rick Biagi (Park District Board Member), John Moran (First Ward Alderman), and Tony Svanascini (President of AmericanEagle.com) are the HLF Directors.  Roger Shubert (Fourth Ward Alderman), Mel Thillens (Park District Board Member), and Robert Trizna (Library Board Member) are also providing support for the initial HLF launch.

For more information about the Park Ridge Holiday Lights Fund, please visit their Facebook page at www.facebook.com/ParkRidgeHolidayLights or the website www.parkridgelights.com.

Please consider donating today to help light-up Park Ridge and make it shine bright this holiday season!
