March

  • Daylight Savings time begins the second Sunday in March at 2:00 am

  • National Library Week
  • Earth Day Celebration
  • National Arbor Day observance in Park Ridge, designated a Tree City USA

May

  • Friends of the Library Spring Book Sale
  • Park Ridge Garden Club Plant Sales, Hodges Park
  • Norwegian Day Parade, 3rd Sunday, noon
  • Farmers Market  opens on the last Saturday in May from 7 am-1 pm; continues until the last Saturday in October
  • Annual Memorial Day Parade, 10 am (Cumberland and Talcott, ending at City Hall)

Summer

Summer Sprinkling Rules
  • Outdoor water restrictions are in effect from May 15 through September 15. Residents may use outdoor City water only on even or odd-numbered calendar days, corresponding with the last digit of their house number. Zero is considered an even number.

Outdoor water use includes use on lawns, gardens, trees, shrubs and for washing vehicles. A special permit for watering newly installed sod, valid for two weeks, can be obtain at the Public Works Department at City Hall. Call 847-318-5227 for more information.

Summer Annual Beautification Awards
  • The City of Park Ridge and the Park Ridge Garden Club co-sponsor a residential Beautification Awards Program for all residents in the City of Park Ridge. The Awards Program gives special recognition to those residents who have made their homes and landscaping the most attractive in our City.

  • The Fireworks Display at dusk at Maine East High School on July 3.
  • Annual Kiwanis Kiddies Parade, July 4
  • Taste of Park Ridge in Uptown
  • Sidewalk Sale in Uptown and South Park

August

Fall

Leaf Raking Rules
  • Raking leaves into the street is not permitted in Park Ridge. A violation carries a $50 minimum fine. Leaves should be placed in approved yard-waste bags or yard-waste carts.

October

  • Official Halloween Trick & Treat hours, October 31, 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm
  • Last Farmers Market, last Saturday in October, 7 am - 1 pm

November

  • Daylight Savings time ends at 2:00 am, the first Sunday in November
  • Friends of the Library Fall Book Sale
  • Winterfest, annual Holiday Open House in Uptown and South Park, with the arrival of Santa, the Friday after Thanksgiving

 

 

Winter

Snow Parking Restrictions
  • Parking is prohibited on both sides of streets designated as snow routes, after 2" of snow has fallen, until 24 hours after the snow stops. Residents may call 847-318-6101 for a recorded message as to whether snow parking restrictions are in effect.
Snow Removal Rules
  • Shoveling or plowing of snow into the street is not permitted in Park Ridge. A violation carries a $50 minimum fine.
