Mayor resubmits request for Resolution to O’Hare Noise Compatibility Commission
Mayor David Schmidt has formally resubmitted his request to the O’Hare Noise Compatibility Commission (ONCC) asking that a Resolution supporting a Supplemental Environmental Impact Study (SEIS) be placed as a discussion item on its September 5, 2014 meeting agenda. Mayor Schmidt’s prior request had been rejected in 2012 by ONCC Chairman Arlene Mulder.
Mayor Schmidt is hopeful that the ONCC will grant his request in light of the recent public support for an SEIS received by Congressmen Schakowsky, Duckworth, and Quigley stating “there is significant momentum for such a study now that large portions of the north side of Chicago are being affected by aircraft noise as well as many suburbs east and west of the airport. It would behoove Ms. Mulder to set aside the interests of her neighbors in Arlington Heights and do her job as Chairman by supporting this Resolution.”
The O’Hare Noise Compatibility Commission will meet on September 5, 2014 at DePaul University’s O’Hare Campus located at 8770 W. Bryn Mawr Avenue which begins at 8:00 a.m.
