Frank J. Kaminski of Park Ridge is our new Park Ridge Police Chief, City Manager Jim Hock announced. Kaminski is a professional with more than 30 years of comprehensive police experience ranging from beat officer to chief of police in the City of Evanston. Currently, he serves as Director of Public Safety for Evanston Township High School, District 202. He will start in Park Ridge Monday, July 6. Kaminski rose to the top of 64 candidates. The City employed the professional search services of the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police to assist with the evaluation of applicants and the best six went through an Assessment Center process, Hock said. “Based on personal interviews and assessment center results, I am confident Frank Kaminski is not only the most qualified candidate, but also the best fit for the City of Park Ridge,” Hock said. The City of Evanston Police Department is a nationally accredited police agency which enjoys a reputation for innovation while providing a high level of service. Kaminski served as Chief and as second in command for the department managing all major functional areas including Operations, Investigation, and Administration. Kaminski is an acknowledged leader in the law enforcement field who has served as an adjunct instructor at three prestigious educational institutions, veteran assessor team leader for CALEA, panel member for promotional interviews and chief selection processes. He has written articles which have been published in professional police journals. He is a graduate of the Northwestern University, Kellogg Graduate School of Management; earned a Master of Public Administration from Roosevelt University of Chicago; and a Bachelor of Arts, Criminal Justice with Honors and Distinction, from University of Illinois, Chicago. He has attended a number of seminars to further his professional development in various areas. Kaminski also participated in and earned a Police Chief Certification through a program sponsored by the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police. The new Chief is also the recipient of numerous awards and commendations including Kiwanis International Hixson Award for Outstanding Community Service, 2005; Evanston Chamber of Commerce Community Leadership Award, 2007; and Polish-American Police Officer of the Year Award, 2008.
