Preparing for this Weekend's Extreme Heat

June 14, 2018 01:53 PM

With the forecasted extreme high temperatures this weekend, the City of Park Ridge wants to make sure that all residents are prepared. The temperatures are predicted to climb into the 90’s and beyond. Please avoid all unnecessary travel and activities and try to limit your time outside, if possible.

It is important to stay cool to maintain a safe body temperature. If you do not have air conditioning, or lose power to your home and need to get to a cool location, you may utilize the Park Ridge Public Library during its normal business hours, which are 9:00 AM- 9:00 PM on Monday through Thursday, 9:00 AM-6:00 PM on Friday, 9:00 AM-5:00 PM on Saturday, and 12:00 PM-5:00 PM on Sunday. If you require assistance at other times, you may go to other public places, such as a movie theater or shopping area. You can also go to the Park Ridge Police Department, located at 200 S. Vine and let them know you have no air conditioning in your home.

Additionally, this extreme heat can take its toll on young children, elderly adults and those with health problems. If possible, please check on your neighbors and loved ones periodically to ensure that they are safe and comfortable. If you or anyone you know needs emergency assistance, you can call 911. For all other issues and concerns, you can call the front desk of the Park Ridge Police Department at 847-318-5252.
