Park Ridge Police arrested Mustafa Obaid, an 18 year old resident of Unincorporated Des Plaines during the early morning hours of Wednesday October 17, 2018 in the 8800 block of Dee Road, Des Plaines.  Mr. Obaid was arrested by the Park Ridge Police following his detention by Cook County Sheriff’s Police based on alerts sent by the Park Ridge Police Department.

Late in the evening of Tuesday October 16, 2018 Park Ridge Police were alerted by numerous concerned parents about a Snap-Chat posting in which Obaid was posed holding a black hand gun.  Park Ridge Police sent numerous units into the area of the 8800 block of Dee Road and alerted the Cook County Sheriff’s Police, leading to Obaid’s detention and arrest shortly before 1:00 am.  A search of Obaid’s vehicle recovered a black air-soft replica weapon, which was confirmed to be the weapon displayed in the Snap-Chat posting.

Obaid has been charged with one Misdemeanor count of Disorderly Conduct, and has a pending court appearance in the Second District of Cook County, Skokie November 30, 2018.

The swift success in locating and arresting Obaid is due to the timely information provided by numerous concerned teens and adults, as well as the cooperation between the Park Ridge Police Department and the Cook County Sheriff’s Police.  The efforts of all the individuals involved allowed for the arrest of Obaid without incident and ensured the safety of the community.
