On Tuesday March 13, 2012 the Park Ridge Fire Department Responded to the Report of a Kitchen Fire
On Tuesday March 13, 2012 at approximately 6:24 a.m., the Park Ridge Fire Department responded to the report of a kitchen fire in the 1400 block of Touhy Avenue. In less than five minutes, the fire department was on the scene. The lone occupant of the home had already evacuated the residence prior to our arrival. Upon arrival, companies confirmed they had an oven fire inside a single-family residence. The fire was contained to the oven with no extension. The fire was then extinguished using a combination of a dry chemical fire extinguisher and a pump can. All rooms and areas of the home were searched to verify no additional occupants. The resident was transported to Resurrection Hospital for evaluation and treatment due to possible smoke inhalation in the initial stages of the incident. Park Ridge Fire Investigators are continuing their investigation of the fire. There was some damage to the appliance and to one wall inside the home. Damage estimates have not yet been determined. Fire units from the Des Plaines and Rosemont Fire Departments were on the scene assisting Park Ridge. No fire personnel were injured as a result of this fire.
