Park Ridge Awarded Grant Funding to be Used for the Volunteer Corps

The Park Ridge Police Department was recently notified that the agency’s grant application to the ComEd-National Safety Council Community Safety Program was approved. Members of the department submitted a request for $10,000.00 last spring. The money is to be used to bolster emergency response equipment used by the City’s Volunteer Corps including the Park Ridge Citizen’s Patrol and Community Emergency Response Team (CERT). Planned purchases include a number of lighting systems, portable generator, inclement weather gear and traffic safety equipment.

“This funding will allow us to purchase much needed equipment for our volunteer groups who work tirelessly to help us keep the community safe,” stated Chief Frank Kaminski. “I am proud of our volunteers and of our staff. Park Ridge was one of 17 recipients out of 119 submitted applications. This funding, along with the recent hiring of a dedicated, Volunteer Coordinator will surely help our already robust volunteer program grow,” Chief Kaminski concluded.
