Park Ridge Police Arrest Aggravated Battery Suspect
On August 15, 2012, at approximately 5:00 p.m., a 16 year old female was walking on the sidewalk in the area of 900 S. Home Avenue. At that time, Anthony M Nugent, 37 years of age, also a Park Ridge resident, approached the victim and asked her what she was carrying. The victim responded that it was a musical instrument and continued walking. Mr. Nugent then followed the victim and began acting aggressively when the victim refused to show him the item. Mr. Nugent then grabbed the victim and threw her to the ground. A struggle ensued between the victim and Mr. Nugent and during the struggle, Mr. Nugent grabbed at the victim’s shorts and ripped them. Mr. Nugent then struck the victim numerous times on the buttocks with his hand. A witness driving by the incident stopped and called 911, which caused Mr. Nugent to start leaving the area. Officers from the Park Ridge Police Department quickly arrived on scene and took Mr. Nugent into custody. During the altercation, the victim suffered some marks and abrasions.
Park Ridge Police Investigators conducted an investigation in conjunction with representatives from the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office. An Assistant State’s Attorney approved one count of aggravated battery, a class 3 felony, against Mr. Nugent. Mr. Nugent was also charged with misdemeanor possession of cannabis and was taken for a bond hearing this morning. At the time of this press release, Mr. Nugent is being held on a $250,000 D Bond.
