Park Ridge Police Arrest Armed Robbery Suspect
Detectives from the Park Ridge Police Department have been investigating an armed robbery which occurred on Wednesday, August 22 (2012) at approximately 9:38 p.m. in the area Elm and Wisner. During the investigation, a suspect was identified. This information was shared with local law enforcement agencies. On August 28th at approximately 8:30 p.m., tactical officers from the Chicago Police Department’s 24th District arrested Antonio C. Olivier, 23 years of age with a last known address in the 7300 block of N. Seeley Avenue, Chicago.
Mr. Olivier was taken into custody in the 2000 Block of Jarvis Avenue in Chicago as he was walking down the street without incident and, then, transferred to the Park Ridge Police Department. Park Ridge investigators, along with representatives from the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, reviewed the case and, ultimately, charged Mr. Olivier with Armed Robbery, a class X felony. On August 22nd , Mr. Olivier is alleged to have hailed a taxi cab in the area of 2000 W. Birchwood, Chicago. He then requested to be taken to O’Hare Airport. While enroute, Mr. Olivier is alleged to have directed the driver into an unlighted, residential area so that he could speak to his family. While the cab was in motion, Mr. Olivier is alleged to have stabbed the victim (driver) in the side of his head and stomach while demanding that the victim give him his money. Mr. Olivier allegedly also threatened to kill the victim if he did not comply. Once the victim gave Mr. Olivier approximately $65.00, he fled the scene. The victim was transported to Lutheran General Hospital for his injuries. Mr. Olivier will be taken for a bond hearing today. Additional charges are being reviewed.
