Park Ridge Police Department: Concealment of Death
On Sunday March 4, 2012 at approximately 1:33 am, Park Ridge Police responded to the 700 block of Busse Highway to assist the Fire Department with an unresponsive subject. Upon arrival, officers learned from three individuals on scene that an acquaintance had knocked on the door of their residence and when one of the individuals answered, he observed that acquaintance lying on the ground in the courtyard. The acquaintance has been identified as Michael A. Kelly, 43 years of age from Des Plaines. The individuals have been identified as: Gerald M. Pembor, 78 years of age from 725 Busse Highway, Park Ridge, IL; John D. Pembor, 51 years of age of age from 725 Busse Highway, Park Ridge, IL and Daniel R. Chernesky, 35 years of age from 8429 N. Milwaukee, Niles, IL. Gerald Pembor further provided information that he immediately called 911 to secure help and that the three of them attempted to provide lifesaving measures to Mr. Kelly. The Park Ridge Fire Department arrived on scene and transported Mr. Kelly to Lutheran General Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Detectives from the Park Ridge Police Department continued investigating the incident and subsequently learned that the initial circumstances provided by Gerald Pembor, John Pembor and Daniel Chernesky were fabricated. Detectives, working with the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, were able to elicit information which indicated that Mr. Kelly had, in fact, arrived at the residence at approximately 9:00 pm and had gone into the bathroom. Soon after his arrival, he collapsed and became unconscious. After several hours had elapsed, the three suspects moved Mr. Kelly outside and left him in the courtyard. Gerald Pembor then called 911 to summon assistance.
Based on the aforementioned facts, Gerald Pembor, John Pembor and Daniel Chernesky have been charged with Concealment of a Death and were taken to the Cook County Court in Skokie for a bond hearing this morning.
