Park Ridge Police Investigate Serious Motor Vehicle Crash

On Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at approximately 10:52 p.m. Park Ridge Police officers responded to a multi vehicle crash at Devon Avenue and Cumberland Avenue. Upon arrival, units observed two damaged vehicles near Fairview Avenue and Devon Avenue. Witnesses report that a 2014 Audi, driven by a 24 year old Park Ridge woman, was travelling northbound Cumberland at Devon. Initial reports also indicate that a 1996 Chevy driven by a 20 year old Park Ridge man was driving eastbound Devon, at a high rate of speed, and as he approached the intersection with Cumberland, disregarded the red light and struck the Audi. After striking the Audi, the Chevy hit a tree and a light pole on the parkway, ultimately, coming to rest on Devon.

The Park Ridge Fire Department responded and transported the driver of the Audi to Resurrection Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the Chevy was transported to Lutheran General Hospital with serious injuries. A 20 year old male passenger and an 18 year old female passenger were ejected from the Chevy and transported to Lutheran General Hospital both with serious injuries. The department’s Major Crash Unit (MCU) investigative team, along with STAR, a multijurisdictional crash investigative team, were activated to collect information, evidence and to review the crash. More information will be released as it becomes available.
