Park Ridge Police Make Arrests in Residential Burglary
On March 9, 2017, at approximately 9:45 am, Park Ridge Police responded to the area of 1000 Kent for the report of suspicious people. The caller advised police that a two individuals were in the area knocking on doors and related to the homeowners that they were looking for a friend who, they thought, lived at that home.
Responding officers were able to locate two subjects who matched the description in the area of Talcott and Clifton. Officers learned that the two male subjects, aged 15 and 17, both from Chicago, were in possession of alcohol. The two were taken into custody and were found to be in possession of items, similar to the type of items which had been taken in recent burglaries. Investigators were able to identify some of the items as potentially belonging to a home in the 900 block of south Delphia. Officers responded to that home and determined that it had, in fact, recently been burglarized. The residents were notified.
At this point, investigators have linked the two juveniles to the residential burglary in the 900 block of south Delphia. The juveniles have been released to their family members pending an investigation into whether or not they are responsible for any of the additional, recent burglaries in the area. Once the investigation is concluded, the two will be petitioned to Juvenile Court.
This case would not have been possible without the assistance of an alert community member. Remember, if you see something suspicious, report it to the police no matter how insignificant you may think it is at the time.
