Park Ridge Police to Offer Defensive Driving Course for Seniors
Park Ridge Police will be hosting the AARP Defensive Driving Course for motorists over 55 years of age. The course will be held on Wednesday November 7th and Wednesday November 14th from 9:00 am until 1:00 pm each day in the City Hall Council Chambers, 505 Butler Place (City Hall). Participants must attend both sessions.
The fee for AARP members is $12 and $14 for non-members. The fee covers instructor and materials cost. During the month of November there will be no cost for all veterans or their family members.
Taking the course is an excellent opportunity for motorists to understand the effects of aging on driving, to test your reflexes and to learn driving strategies designed to help avoid crashes. The course can also help motorists identify the most common crash situations faced by older drivers, ways to avoid them and will update participant knowledge of today’s traffic laws.
After completing the course, participants are generally entitled to a discount on their automobile insurance. This could range from 5% to 10% or more depending upon your insurance company.
This course is also recommended for driver’s over 50, however, the insurance benefit might not apply.
If you are interested in participating, contact Officer Laura Kappler via email or by phone: (847) 318-5220.
