The police department consists of 55 full-time sworn officers, 2 full-time clerical staff; 1 Records Supervisor, along with 4 part-time Records Techs;1 Community Service Officer Coordinator, 6 Community Service Officers,1 Property & Evidence Clerk, 2 Parking Enforcement Officers, 3 part-time InfoTechs; and 1 part-time Social Worker.
Specialized training is provided to sworn officers in such areas as Crime Scene Evidence Technician, Field Training & Juvenile Officer, Major Crash Unit and Criminal Investigator. Other opportunities in the department are School Resource Officer, Traffic and Bike Patrol Officer, Honor Guard, Crime Prevention/Community Relations, Accreditation and Emergency Services Team.
The Park Ridge Police Department's Honor Guard participated in the police memorial service which was held on Monday, May 14, 2012 at 6:30 p.m. Area chaplains organized and conducted this remembrance service. This service honored fallen police officers as well as past Park Ridge Police Officers.
The Honor Guard averages 8-12 appearances a year, including Police Memorial Day ceremonies, National Night Out ceremonies, Parades, and a Chicago Wolves pre-game ceremony. The Honor Guard is currently comprised of the following 7 Department members: Lt. Duane Mellema, Ofc. Kristen Abbinante, Ofc. Dave Cacioppo, Ofc. Len Garcia, Ofc. Mike Luehr, Ofc. Tim McEwen, and Ofc. Steve Stopka.
