Police Department Roadside Safety Check - August 2011
On August 19th the Park Ridge Police Department joined with the Des Plaines Police Department to conduct a joint Roadside Safety check. The check was conducted at Devon Avenue and Dee Road from 9:00 pm until 3:00 am. The results are as follows: There was one DUI arrest, one possession of cannabis arrest (26.4 grams), three arrests for driving on a revoked or suspended license, and six people arrests for driving with no license. In addition, thirty citations were issued for driving with no insurance, eighteen citations were issued for failure to wear occupant restraint and twelve citations were issued for various equipment violations. These results clearly illustrate that periodic roadside safety checks are a valuable tool to keeping our streets and our community safe. This roadside check removed one intoxicated motorist from the street as well as countless others who should not be driving. In addition, the check identified thirty motorist who were driving with no insurance. These motorists put all drivers at risk should a crash occur.
