Police Investigating Fatal Crash Involving a Pedestrian

On Wednesday February 14th, 2018 at approximately 6:13 P.M. the Park Ridge Police Department was notified of a Vehicle Crash involving a pedestrian on Potter Rd. just North of Farrell Av. in Park Ridge. Park Ridge Police and Fire Department Units were dispatched to the scene and upon arrival located the Pedestrian, Bina Chowdhury a Female, 42 years of age of Park Ridge  in the roadway being given emergency aid by Civilian Passers-by.

Preliminary investigative findings indicate that Ms. Chowdhury had been walking West crossing Potter Rd. North of Farrell, not in a crosswalk, when a Mazda 3 Sedan being driven South on Potter Rd. by a Male, White, 31 year old from Chicago struck her on the West side of the roadway.

Ms. Chowdhury was treated on scene for life threatening injuries by Park Ridge Fire Department Paramedics and transported to Lutheran General Hospital, 1775 W. Dempster St., Park Ridge, where late last night she succumbed to her injuries.  The driver of the Mazda 3 was not injured in the crash. 

Park Ridge Police Personnel and members of the Major Case Assistance Team STAR unit, a multi-jurisdictional crash investigation team, are continuing the investigation at this time.  The driver of the Mazda 3 is cooperating fully with investigators at this time.
