Police Respond to Accident at 1330 South Greenwood

On today’s date at about 1050AM Park Ridge Police responded to a report of a car into a house in the 1300 Block of South Greenwood.  Upon arrival Officers were able to speak with the driver of that vehicle, along with residents of the home that was struck.  Initial information from witnesses revealed that the driver was N/B on Greenwood at Granville when his vehicle went through the stop sign and left the roadway. The vehicle then continued N/B striking a tree on the parkway, along with a residential lamp post. The vehicle continued on and then struck the side of the home located at 1330 South Greenwood.  Two elderly residents were inside the home at the time of the accident, neither resident was injured.  The driver of the vehicle, a male/84 years old of Park Ridge, was treated on the scene by Park Ridge paramedics. He was then transported to Lutheran General Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.  His injuries are not life threatening and it is suspected that he may have suffered a medical event prior to the accident. There is no indication that drugs or alcohol play a role in this accident. At this time the driver will be cited for several driving violations and the investigation is ongoing. Park Ridge Building inspectors surveyed the damage to the home and related that once board up efforts are completed the residents can reoccupy the home.
