Promises, and Butterflies, take flight
Rainbows, animals and butterflies, oh my! What began as artistically decorated rainbows a few years ago, has now become beautiful, hand-created butterfly sculptures. This year, Rainbow Hospice’s artistic program is Promises Take Flight. ButterflySculptures, which were available for a $1,000 sponsorship, will help support the Rainbow Hospice Good Mourning Program.
Each butterfly is 3 feet tall, made of fiberglass and decorated uniquely. The butterflies are now on display at various locations of three communities; Park Ridge, Mount Prospect and Des Plaines. A map of the Park Ridge locations is available at City Hall, the Park Ridge Public Library and the Chamber of Commerce.
Park Ridge and Mount Prospect are teaming up on July 6 for the “Butterfly Express” to commemorate the project. On July 6, people are encouraged to ride the Metra between Park Ridge and Mount Prospect to view the sculptures. Exciting events are taking place at both locations as well. The Park Ridge Chamber of Commerce will be hosting “Cruisin' Park Ridge” in the Uptown area with over 200 vehicles expected to be on display. The Park Ridge Fine Arts Symphony will also be hosting its Friday Night concert 8 – 10 p.m. in Hodges Park on the front steps of Park Ridge City Hall. Mount Prospect will welcome everyone to its “Friday on the Green” concert featuring Suburban Cowboys 6 – 8 p.m. at the Village Hall located at 50 S. Emerson Street.
Be sure to mark it on your must-do list, before the butterflies take flight on October 10.
