Public Works Weather Update
Public Works will be monitoring the warmer temperatures and forecasted rain and the resulting melting snow. We are expecting a short period of snow and freezing rain followed by approximately a ¾ inch rainfall starting in the early morning hours of February 20.
Street ponding is to be expected in most areas due to the inlets being frozen both on top and underneath. Slight ponding at the corners will help to slowly melt the inlets allowing them to function again. Snow also soaks up some of the rain in events like this and may slow down the transmission of rain water to the streets.
If necessary, Public Works has sandbags available at the Service Center, 400 Busse Highway. Crews will be barricading any impassable streets due to ponding. Please call the Service Center at 847/318-5240 to report any heavy street ponding.
The level of the Des Plaines River is low and will not affect Park Ridge.
Potholes are appearing after each freeze/thaw cycle. The City continues to have crews patrolling the streets for potholes and are patching them as they are found. Please call the Public Works Service Center at 847/318-5240 to report any major potholes.
Commonwealth Edison encourages customers to notify them directly as soon as possible if they experience a power outage. Customers can text OUT to 26633 to report their outage and receive restoration information or they can call ComEd at 1-800-EDISON-1.
