Park Ridge prohibits discrimination in real estate transactions and in lending practices based on race, color, sex, age, religion, disability, national origin, ancestry, sexual orientation, gender expression, marital status, parental status, military discharge status, source of income or housing status.

The ordinance creates a Fair Housing Commission charged with the duty of enforcing Park Ridge's Fair Housing Ordinance. Grievances are heard first by the City Manager and are then  the commission may be called upon to hold a conciliation conference. The commission will also take action to educate the public concerning teh fact that Park Ridge is a Fair Housing Community.
At least once a year the commission will submit a written report to the City of the general scope of the commission's activities and recommendations with respect to fair real estate practices.
