CURBSIDE RECYCLING

In 2008, residents receiving curbside or alley collection received from ARC Disposal and Recycling one (1) blue 65-gallon wheeled cart for recycling.  Recycling does not need to be separated.  All approved recyclables can be placed in the same recycling cart. 

Recycling placed out at the curb or in the alley in containers other than the wheeled carts will not be collected.  The occasional overflow recycling may be placed in paper bags and placed adjacent to the filled cart for collection. 

Do not place your address on the cart.  Each cart is imprinted with its own serial number that can be recorded.  The carts remain the property of ARC Disposal and are to be left at the residence when an owner vacates the property.

ALUMINUM - Rinsed beverage cans or formed aluminum trays. Crushing is optional. 

STEEL (TIN) CANS - Food, beverage, candy, cookie tins, empty aerosol cans, except paint.  No food residuals or plastic caps are allowed.  Metal lids, caps and rings are permitted.

GLASS BOTTLES AND JARS - Green, brown and clear glass only.  Remove lid, ring and cap.  Recycle if these are metal.  Rinse, do not break.

YARD WASTE COLLECTION (LEAVES & GRASS) - Beginning in early April through mid December, the City's refuse hauler will pick up yard waste on your regular garbage collection day.  Please place yard waste next to the curb and in the appropriate 30-gallon PAPER waste bags, or in yard waste carts purchased through the City's solid waste hauler.  Yard waste will not be collected in plastic bags.

BRANCH COLLECTION - Beginning March 17 through November 14, the City will collect loose brush on the resident's regular garbage collection day.  Residents desiring this service must place their branches on the parkway next to the curb after 5:00 p.m., the day before their regular garbage collection day.  This service is only provided for tree trimming, with branches having a trunk diameter not greater than eight (8) inches.  Brush resulting from tree removals will not be picked up. 

NEWSPAPERS - Inserts found in newspapers are acceptable.  No ties or plastic bags allowed.

MIXED PAPER – junk mail (no envelopes with wax paper windows), magazines, brown paper grocery bags, phone books, catalogs, note, typing and computer printout paper, cereal boxes (without inner wax paper), gift boxes and small boxes (unwaxed), corrugated cardboard (no larger than 3' x 3').  No plastic wrap or waxed paper. 

PLASTIC – Milk, pop and water jugs, colored or clear plastic necked laundry, bath products, anti-freeze, windshield washers, any plastic bottles with necks, paper food cartons, plastic pop rings.  Remove caps and rinse (crushing optional).  Plastic Bags can be recycled at Jewel or Dominick's.

FURNITURE will be picked up by ARC on your regular garbage day. 

"WHITE GOODS" – APPLIANCES - Stoves, refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, humidifiers, dryers,

de-humidifiers, dishwashers, furnaces, etc. by law require special handling. Please call ARC Disposal at (847) 981-0091 for current pricing and to arrange for pickup.

OFFICIAL CITY HOLIDAYS –

There will be NO garbage collection on:

Memorial Day

Independence Day

Labor Day

Thanksgiving Day

Christmas Day

New Year’s Day

Pickup will resume the next day.
