"Saving Places that Matter To You" Poster Contest

March 27, 2019 09:51 AM

The Historic Preservation Commission "Saving Places that Matter to You" Poster Contest is underway.  The contest is open for all Park Ridge students in Grades 3 through 5 who reside in Park Ridge or attend school in Park Ridge.  Students are invited to identify local Park Ridge places---a house that has been part of a family for generations, a school that children have attended for decades, a church, a favorite building uptown or in South Park.

This year a Kids Magazine was developed by Commissioners Julie Tiu and Joan Mattingly to help provide some background material for the Contest.  A poster template is available for students to use; entries are due Friday, April 12. Winners will be announced in early May and awards will be presented at the May 20 City Council Meeting.  May is National Preservation Month.  This is a wonderful way to celebrate our heritage and to introduce the idea of preservation to children.

For more details about the Poster Contest, please review the attached entry forms or contact Jon Branham, City of Park Ridge Planner, 847-318-5291.
