The City of Park Ridge Fire Department Will Begin the 2013 Hydrant Flushing Program on June 3
The City of Park Ridge Fire Department will begin the 2013 hydrant flushing program on June 3. This is a critical process to ensure the readiness of the City in case of fire. We will be flushing approximately 100-150 hydrants a week and will end hydrant flushing on or about August 30, depending on many factors including the weather this summer. Residents will be notified via Code Red, on Saturday mornings, if your neighborhood hydrants will be scheduled for flushing the following week. Please note, you may receive multiple calls, depending on where your address falls within our hydrant grids.
The Fire Department will flush hydrants between the hours of 7 a.m. and 2 p.m., Monday through Thursday and 7a.m. to 12 Noon on Fridays. During the testing period, you may notice a change in household water pressure and possible discoloration of the water. If you notice discoloration of the water, it is not harmful and will disappear in a short amount of time. However, it is strongly recommended that water customers refrain from laundering clothing while the water is discolored. Residents should run some water in a sink for one or two minutes, or until the water is clear. Thank you for your cooperation.
