The Fire Department Encourages Residents To Adopt A Hydrant

With winter upon us, the Fire Department encourages residents to “Adopt a Hydrant” near your home. When snow falls, please take care of your adopted hydrant by making sure a snow-free three-foot perimeter exists around the hydrant, allowing the Fire Department better access to the hydrant and to start water flow. This will save precious time in the event of a fire.

There are nearly 1,400 fire hydrants in the City of Park Ridge. Hydrants are typically spaced no more than 500 feet apart in residential neighborhoods. In times of extreme snowfall, the Fire Department will make efforts to clear hydrants in the business districts, however, it is difficult to make it to the neighborhood streets.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
