Upcoming Citizen's Police Academy Class - Spring 2012
Have you ever wondered what takes place in a Police Department?
Are you looking for a way to give back to your community?
The Park Ridge Police Department is now accepting applications for enrollment in the upcoming City of Park Ridge Citizen’s Police Academy spring class.
The Citizen’s Police Academy is designed to further enhance our partnership with the community by introducing participants to their local criminal justice system. Our goal is to develop mutual respect and a sense of community by providing participants with the opportunity to become more familiar with the Park Ridge Police Department. The intent of the Citizen’s Police Academy is not to train citizens to become police officers. Rather, it is an opportunity to see first hand what types of duties and responsibilities police officers and other police employees have.
Learn about the justice system, patrol procedures, criminal investigations, narcotics, firearms, defensive tactics, hostage negotiations, crime scene investigations, gangs, dispatch, emergency vehicle operations, neighborhood oriented policing, go on a ride-a-long with the officers on patrol and much more!
The classes will begin on Thursday, March 15, 2012 and will continue for ten weeks through May 24, 2012, Graduation Day. The Citizen’s Police Academy will be every Thursday night from 7:00 pm – 9:30 pm throughout the ten-week period.
