Uptown Streetscape Work to Begin Week of September 9

Uptown Streetscape Work to Begin Week of September 9

On Monday, September 9, work begins on a streetscape project on Prospect (east side) from the Pickwick south to Summit, and on Summit from Prospect to Ridge.

The project includes new roadway and pedestrian lighting, irrigation, trees, planter boxes, benches, trash cans, landscaping, curb, sidewalk, brick pavers, concrete crosswalks, retaining wall, decorative brick wall, and railings.

Both areas will be under construction at the same time.  Starting on September 9, parking will be eliminated on Prospect, east side of the street from the Pickwick to Summit, as well as along the south side of Summit from Prospect to Ridge (commuter parking area).  There will be commuter parking available east of Ridge along the tracks.  Both parking areas will be unavailable for 2-3 months as there will be contractor activity, equipment, materials, etc.

At some point the entire sidewalk on the east side of Prospect will be removed from the curb to the building.  We will try to keep a narrow strip of walk open along the building face for as long as possible and provide a few access points from the stores to the street along Prospect.  There will also be periodic lane and street closures on both Prospect and Summit to accommodate various phases of the project.

Affected businesses and commuters have been notified of the upcoming work.

Signage has been placed in several locations on Prospect and on Summit notifying the public of the construction.
