Volunteer to serve on the City's Appearance or O'Hare Commission

Volunteers are frequently referred to as the backbone of our community.  Currently, the City is accepting applications for one position on the Appearance Commission and one on the O’Hare Airport Commission.

Interested individuals can learn more about the responsibilities of the position and qualifications by visiting the City website at www.parkridge.us.  For the Appearance Commission, search for Article 17, Chapter 7 and for the O’Hare Airport Commission, please see Article 4, Chapter 10.

Applications can also be found online.  In the upper left search field, type: application board to access an on-line, fill-in form.  Be sure to save the file before submitting your application.  Or, you can obtain a hard-copy application in the foyer at City Hall.  Applicants are encouraged to review past Board or Commission minutes to better understand the business that is conducted, although it is not a requirement.

Applications should be returned to Deputy Clerk Peterson at cpeterso@parkridge.us or by fax, 847/318-5300.  You will be contacted to meet with the Mayor’s Advisory Board for a brief interview to discuss your interests and qualifications.  The Board makes recommendations to the Mayor for appointments of candidates they believe are qualified.   Any candidate recommended to the Mayor for appointment will be required to have a non-fingerprint criminal background check.

Volunteers are an essential part of and a precious resource in our great City.  By donating your time and talent, you are contributing to the spirit of volunteerism within the community, making Park Ridge a better place to live and work.  The Mayor’s Advisory Board is chaired by Alderman Daniel Knight and also includes Aldermen Marc Mazzuca, Nicholas Milissis, and Roger Shubert.
