The Park Ridge Police Department and surrounding communities have had an increase in not only items being stolen from vehicles at gas stations but vehicles being stolen at the gas station pumps. The thieves have brazenly done this while the owner is pumping gas or has briefly stepped away from their vehicle to enter the gas station.
• Turn the engine off upon exiting the vehicle.
• Take the fab or keys with you and lock the car.
• Hide expensive items and personal belongings.
Report any suspicious vehicles, people, or activity to 911 with as much information as you can safely provide.
