City now accepting applications for various Boards and Commissions

Volunteers are frequently referred to as the backbone of our community.  The City appreciates your willingness to serve.  Currently, applications are being accepted for the following Boards and Commissions, including: O’Hare Airport (1); Civil Service (1); Appearance (1); Police Pension Board (1), and the Library Board (3).

Interested individuals can learn more about the responsibilities of the position by viewing our Council Policy Statement Handbook; Appendice C:  Boards, Commissions, & Committees.

You must complete an application which can be found online at  In the upper left search field, type: application board to access an on-line, fill-in form. Or, you can obtain a hard-copy application in the foyer at City Hall.  Applicants are encouraged to review past Board or Commission minutes to better understand the business that is conducted. However, this is not a requirement.

Applications should be returned to Deputy Clerk Peterson at or by fax, 847/318-5300 by April 1.  You will be contacted to meet with the Mayor’s Advisory Board for a brief interview to discuss your interests and qualifications.  The Board makes recommendations to the Mayor for appointments of candidates they believe are qualified.  A non-fingerprint criminal background check is required for all individuals recommended for appointment.

Volunteers are an essential part of and a precious resource in our great City.  By donating your time and talent, you are contributing to the spirit of volunteerism within the community, making Park Ridge a better place to live and work.

The Mayor’s Advisory Board is chaired by Alderman Daniel Knight and also includes Aldermen Marc Mazzuca, Nicholas Milissis, and Roger Shubert.
