City seeks volunteers for the Library Board of Trustees

May 8, 2018 11:01 AM

Recently, Mayor Maloney issued a Proclamation recognizing the spirit of volunteerism afforded by many residents who serve on the City’s Boards and Commissions.  Volunteers are frequently referred to as the backbone of our community.

Currently, the City is accepting applications for three positions on the Library Board of Trustees.  Interested individuals can learn more about the responsibilities of the position by visiting the City of Park Ridge website at  In the upper right SEARCH field, enter Boards and Commissions. Applications are available online or in the foyer at City Hall.  Applicants are strongly encouraged to review past minutes to better understand the business that is conducted, although it is not a requirement.  Please visit the Library’s website to review the minutes of past meetings

Please submit your completed application to Deputy Clerk Peterson at or by fax, 847/318-5300 before May 14. Your application will be reviewed and finalists will be contacted for a brief interview with the Mayor’s Advisory Board.  The Board recommends well-qualified candidates to the Mayor for appointment; if he accepts the recommendation, the candidate will be required to have a non-fingerprint criminal background check before receiving final approval of appointment by the City Council.

Volunteers are an essential part of and a precious resource in our great City.  By donating your time and talent, you are contributing to the spirit of volunteerism within the community, making Park Ridge a better place to live and work.  The Mayor’s Advisory Board is chaired by Alderman Marc Mazzuca and members include Ald. John Moran, Ald. Gail Wilkening, and Ald. Charlie Melidosian.
