FAiR Urges Residents to Call their Congressmen

A request was recently submitted to the FAA via Congressman Quigley requesting a delay in the destruction of the 14L/32R runway.  While we await a response, it is important to keep pressure on the three congressmen to NOT allow the FAA to sit on the request.

FAiR Leadership is urging residents to please call or email their congressmen TODAY OR TOMORROW and tell them:

In light of the concerns FAiR has raised and until an additional cost analysis study can be addressed for allocation of any additional federal funding for the OMP, we are asking that the Congressmen use their influence to have the FAA prevent/delay the demolition of diagonal runway 14L /32R by the City of Chicago scheduled for April 2016. We strongly believe, as do the congressmen,  that additional time is needed to assess the impacts to the communities and that allowing this demolition to proceed will have negative results of a magnitude unprecedented in modern aviation history, with impacts to quality of life, health and safety for generations to come.

If the FAA fails to comply, we will have no choice but to initiate a GAO (Government Accountability Office) independent investigation (as suggested by COngressman Quigley.  .Thank you for your consideration.

The contact information for the three congressmen representing the affected areas is below:

Mike Quigley:  (202) 225-4061

Jan Schakowsky (202) 225-2111

Tammy Duckworth:   (202) 225-3711
