Mayor Schmidt fully prepared for ONCC Meeting September 5

September 4, 2014 10:22 AM

Mayor Schmidt has received a letter from Congressman Schakowsky addressed to the O'Hare Noise Compatibility Commission ("ONCC") stating her support for our proposed Resolution asking the Federal Aviation Administration to conduct a full-scale Supplemental Environmental Study on the impact of the O'Hare build-out.  Mayor Schmidt believes that the ONCC leadership, led by former Arlington Heights Mayor Arlene Mulder, has done everything to prevent the consideration of Park Ridge’s request for support.

On Friday, September 5 at 8:00 a.m. the matter will come to a head at the ONCC General Meeting to be held at the De Paul University O'Hare Campus, 8770 West Bryn Mawr, 2nd Floor, in Chicago just south of the Kennedy and west of Cumberland.  Mayor Schmidt invites the residents of Park Ridge to attend the meeting and express their support for our request.  Park Ridge has received letters of support from Schiller Park, Itasca, Norridge, and Chicago's 39th Ward.  Other communities have also expressed their support including Harwood Heights, Bensenville, Northlake and Elk Grove Village.

Mayor Schmidt is not certain what to expect on Friday.  It is his belief that there are powerful interests, including the City of Chicago, Ms. Mulder, and other communities located northwest of the airport who have no desire to see any changes regarding the way the runways will be utilized in the future.  Mayor Schmidt is pleased that this is by far the most progress that Park Ridge has ever made in bringing attention to this problem.  He is appreciative of the support that Park Ridge has received from Congressmen and Elected Officials representing Park Ridge.
