UPDATED Seventh Ward Alderman Vacancy

Would you like to serve as an Alderman for the City of Park Ridge?
A Park Ridge Alderman is a member of the City Council who represent the residents of their ward as well as the citizens of the City of Park Ridge at weekly city council meetings. The job of alderman has been described as an "iceberg job" − the biggest part of the work doesn't show. The rewards, however, come from means other than public recognition alone. The personal satisfaction involved in serving the City and its citizens and the ability as a member of the City Council to accomplish community objectives are of primary significance. Elected officials are given the opportunity to use their leadership abilities, and to act on current and future issues in a manner reflecting the common good of the community. The responsibilities of public office include the commitment to becoming informed on all issues facing the legislative body, commitment to attendance at scheduled meetings, and the participation in meaningful debate in a manner that is respectful of the opinions of others. Meetings are held every Monday evening at 7:00 pm in City Hall. The salary of each Alderman of the City $1,200 per year payable in equal monthly installments.
Residents who have resided in the Seventh Ward for at least one year are invited to apply. Click here for the City of Park Ridge Ward Map.
Interested Seventh Ward residents should submit a letter of interest and resume to Deputy Clerk Brigid Madden via email or mail / delivery to City Hall, no later than 5:00 pm on Friday, April 29. The candidate selected to fill the vacancy will serve out the remainder of the current term, until the first week of May 2023.
Candidates will be interviewed by a committee of Seventh Ward residents. Interviews will be held Monday evenings beginning May 9. The committee’s selection will be forwarded to Mayor Maloney who will then present the recommendation to the City Council for discussion and approval.
