Fire at Bristol Court
May 24, 2022
On Tuesday May 24, 2022 at 10:59 pm, the Park Ridge Fire Department responded to an activated fire alarm in Bristol Court, at 200 Thames Parkway. While en route to the call, the alarm was upgraded by RED Center to a confirmed fire response due to multiple calls being received by the dispatch center. Upon arrival, crews saw heavy fire blowing out of a window in a top floor unit and extending up into the mansard roof. Crews also received reports of multiple people in need of rescue on the fire floor. Initial crews went to the fire floor to rescue the trapped residents while a fire attack was performed from the exterior from our ladder truck.
The fire spread quickly through the void space in the roof. The incident was upgraded to a fire box alarm to the fourth level and an EMS box to the second level. Four residents were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening issues and one firefighter was transported to the hospital with an injury and has already been treated and released.
The fire was eventually extinguished at approximately 3:30 a.m.. Park Ridge companies are staying on location to ensure complete extinguishment of the fire. The fire is under investigation by Park Ridge Fire Department investigators along with help from the MABAS Division 3 Fire Investigation Team and the State Fire Marshal’s office. At this point the fire is believed to be accidental in nature. There is no estimate for fire loss at this point but the entire 36 unit building is completely uninhabitable.
Park Ridge received assistance from approximately twenty fire departments at this incident.
