Fire in the 1700 Block of Evergreen Lane

September 2, 2022
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

On Thursday, September 1 at 2:18 PM, the Park Ridge Fire Department (PRFD) and mutual aid resources were dispatched to the 1700 block of Evergreen Lane for a reported house fire. PRFD personnel arrived in less than five minutes and found smoke coming from the roof of an attached single car garage. The response was upgraded to a “working fire” level bringing in additional mutual aid resources to assist with the fire operations. First arriving fire companies deployed a hoseline to extinguish the fire while a search of the residence was conducted to locate anyone inside. The fire was quickly brought under control and the search revealed the house was unoccupied at the time of the incident. Quick fire control prevented the fire from spreading to the other areas of the home, thereby preventing further damage.

No injuries resulted from the incident and damage to the home is estimated to be less than $10,000. Fire investigators have classified the cause of the fire as accidental in nature.

Assistance on scene was provided by the Des Plaines, Niles, North Maine, Morton Grove, and Schiller Park Fire Departments.

A “working fire” response level also provides mutual aid coverage in both Park Ridge fire stations so concurrent incidents can be managed. This support was provided by the Elk Grove, Rosemont, and Wheeling Fire Departments. During the fire, companies providing station coverage responded to three emergency medical incidents.
