O’Hare Airport Commission concerned about 6th new runway deal

Jim Argionis, Chairman of the OAC reported to the City Council about the recent meeting attended by northwest Chicago’s FAiR Coalition, many who are Park Ridge residents, with Mayor Rahm Emanuel.  After numerous attempts to schedule, the FAiR Coalition finally was given an opportunity to meet with the Mayor face to face.  According to the most recent news release from FAiR, members were basically told that that while he [Mayor Emanuel] was “sensitive” to the experiences of people, he would “probably not” even ask the question that could open the door to keeping and using the diagonal runways at night and in off-peak hours under current FAA and NTSB safety directives.

Just a few days later, Mayor Emanuel reached a deal to build the 6th runway at O’Hare that would only add insult to injury to those residents already experiencing devastating noise and worsening the situation by bringing more noise and pollution to those areas already hit hard. The new runway would affect those residents living near Granville and Peterson.  But there is still one thing missing from this deal; Federal money.  And that’s why your help right now is imperative.

The O’Hare Airport Commission urges you to call and email your Representative today.  Let them know how the O’Hare Modernization Plan has affected your life and the proposal to build this new runway is the tip of the iceberg.  Please DO NOT hesitate; contact your federal representative today!
