Pace Bus proposes the discontinuation of some routes

Pace has proposed discontinuing some routes, including Saturday service of its Route 209 down Busse Highway.  Public comments are due by October 31

Notice is hereby given that Pace, the Suburban Bus Division of the Regional Transportation Authority, is holding public hearings on its proposed program and budget for the year 2019 (January 1, 2019 through December 31, 2019), the operating financial plan for 2019-2021 and the capital plan for 2019-2023.

Pace presents a balanced and stable budget for 2019 as no general fare increases are proposed for Suburban Service or Regional ADA Paratransit.

The following routes do not meet minimum performance standards of efficiency, productivity and ridership, and are proposed to be discontinued before April 1, 2019. Funds will be re-invested to enhance service.

  • Route 209 Busse Highway (Saturday service discontinued only)
  • Route 304 North Riverside-LaGrange
  • Route 326 West Irving Park
  • Route 348 Harvey-Riverdale-Blue Island (Saturday service discontinued only)
  • Route 362 South Park Forest
  • Route 504 South Joliet (Saturday service discontinued only)
  • Route 532 Illinois Avenue
  • Route 540 Farnsworth Avenue (Saturday service discontinued only)
  • Route 546 Orange-Walnut (Saturday service discontinued only)
  • Route 590 Round Lake Area Call-N-Ride (On-Demand)
  • Route 661 Southwest Westmont
  • Route 681 Lincoln Park-Naperville Metra
  • Route 809 Richmond-Fox Lake Metra Station
  • Route 824 East Bolingbrook-Lisle

Any person wishing to comment on the proposed budget may present views orally at the public hearings or by submitting written material on or before the last date of the hearings, which is Wednesday, October 31, 2018, or or by using the "Public Hearing Comment Form".

Individuals with disabilities who plan to attend these hearings and who require accommodations other than transportation, and individuals who require translation into a language other than English to allow them to observe and/or participate are requested to contact Pace at (847) 364-7223 option 3, five (5) business days prior to the scheduled hearing.

Budget information will be available after October 10, 2018 at most public libraries, as well as township, city and village offices in the six county Pace region. Copies of the proposed program and budget will be available for public inspection after October 10, 2018 at:
