Park Ridge Police Arrest Robbery Suspect

On March 26, 2017 Park Ridge Police officers responded to the report of a robbery in the 1700 Block of Dempster Street. Upon arrival, officers learned the victim attempted to enter her vehicle in the parking garage when a female suspect grabbed the victim’s arm and demanded her car keys. The victim was able to break free and run towards the exit of the garage. As the victim attempted to escape the area, the suspect is alleged to have tackled the victim, began striking the victim and again demanded her keys. Several bystanders interceded and the suspect then fled, on foot. With the assistance of security staff, Park Ridge Police were able to identify a suspect with a home address in Des Plaines. Des Plaines Police were notified and they took the suspect into custody near her home. She was then transferred to the custody of the Park Ridge Police Department and held for investigation.

On today’s date, detectives from the Park Ridge Police Department completed their investigation and charges were approved by the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office. Amanda Marie Bermudez, 24 years of age from Des Plaines, was charged with one count of Robbery and one count of Aggravated Battery.  She is scheduled for a bond hearing tomorrow.
