Park Ridge Police Respond to Motor Vehicle Crash Involving an Overturned School Bus

At approximately 7:40 a.m. on today’s date, Park Ridge Police officers responded to a crash at the intersection of Des Plaines Avenue and Hamlin Avenue. Upon arrival, officers observed a 2009 Chevy van school bus on its side. The investigation revealed that the bus was traveling west on Des Plaines and was approximately halfway through the uncontrolled intersection when a 2005 Cadillac Escalade heading south on Hamlin struck the passenger side, rear wheel area of the bus causing it to roll onto its side.

Although there were no visible injuries, the driver and four passengers were transported to area hospitals as a precaution with one complaint of back pain. School District 207 staff responded to the scene and  made notifications to families involved.

The occupants of the Cadillac,  including a driver and three passengers, were not injured. The 17-year-old driver of that vehicle was cited with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
