The Park Ridge Police Department is diligently monitoring the constant changing situations that have occurred over the past weekend. Information is being shared across multiple intelligence sources including the Chicago Police Department, Illinois State Police, Cook County Sheriffs Police, State Terrorism Intelligence Center and neighboring police departments.

Our Police Department is also actively monitoring multiple social media outlets. They are aware of the posts that mention us and our neighboring communities. Please know that because of the riots and looting that have occurred in Chicago and other suburban areas, social media is full of false rumors and non-credible information.

The PRPD have increased their presence throughout our community. They are mobilized and have established additional patrol shifts and specialized react teams for immediate response to potential disturbance situations. They will be patrolling business areas; watching for any signs of disturbances and are prepared for multiple scenarios.

Please note, out of an abundance of caution, some businesses have voluntarily elected to board up their storefronts.

We are not alone. The PRPD has multiple specialized resources available to them, such as the Northern Illinois Police Alarm System Field Force, Illinois Law Enforcement Alarm System mutual aid and Cook County Sheriff’s Police.

There are three things YOU can do:

  1. Register for free safety and emergency alerts from the Park Ridge Police Department at https://local.nixle.com/zipcode/60068/  or text 60068 to 888-777.
  2. Stay home and stay safe.
  3. If you see something suspicious, call 911 and report it immediately.

Thank you for keeping Park Ridge Strong!
