If you have received a ticket for a zero tolerance, possession of drugs or possession of drug paraphernalia, and you are under the age of twenty-one, you have three options. Note that all of the information contained below is for first-time offenders. If the Park Ridge Police Department issued a ticket or tickets to you for the same violation that has already been adjudicated, the amounts of the fines below and the drug/alcohol assessment program will be different.

 Options:

  1. Pay the $1,000 fine plus $40.00 in court costs. Plead guilty or no contest to the charge and pay a fine of $1,000 and court costs of $40.00. The City will report this conviction to the Secretary of State for alcohol violations.
  1. Attend Drug/Alcohol Education and Counseling Program
  • You must attend and complete one of the drug/alcohol assessment programs by the deadline set by the order and complete all education and treatment recommendations.
  • You must provide the Court with documentation from one of the listed agencies that you completed the assessment/education/recommendations. If you select this option, the fine will be reduced to $140 ($100 plus $40 in court costs). You must also pay the cost of the assessment/program.
  • Your case will be continued for two months. If the Administrative Adjudication Division receives notification that you successfully completed the assessment/program by the deadline the ticket will be dismissed at the hearing date. You must authorize that the program be allowed to provide the City of Park Ridge with written verification that you successfully completed the program.
  1. Contest the Ticket

If you decide to contest the ticket, the Hearing Officer, will hold a hearing regarding your ticket. If you are found liable by the Hearing Officer, you will be fined $1,000 for the first offense. The City will report this conviction to the Secretary of State for alcohol violations.
