Between April 1, 2019 and April 30, 2019, the Park Ridge Police Department participated in Illinois’ Distracted Driving Enforcement campaign, bringing awareness to area residents and issuing 184 citations. Increased enforcement was part of National Distracted Driving Awareness Month.

Driver distraction is a persistent issue in Park Ridge and can often have life-altering consequences.  Issuing a citation is a proven way to get motorists to reduce distracted driving.

During the month-long campaign, the Park Ridge Police Department issued:

  • 125 Electronic Communication Device Citations
  • 6 Seat Belt Citations
  • 7 Suspended/Revoked Licenses
  • 12 Uninsured Motorists
  • 9 Speeding Citations
  • 7 Expired Registration
  • 9 Disobey Traffic Control Device

Distracted Driving Awareness Month may be over, but the Park Ridge Police Department will continue stopping drivers for this behavior.

The Distracted Driving enforcement campaign is supported through federal funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
