Police Respond to Accident at 900 N. Northwest Highway

On today’s date at 12:39 PM Park Ridge Police responded to a report of a car into an Apartment Building in the 900 N. block of Northwest Highway.  Upon arrival Officers were able to speak with the driver of that vehicle, along with witnesses.  Initial information  revealed that the driver was N/B on Shibley at Northwest Highway when his vehicle went through the stop sign and left the roadway on the North side of Northwest Highway. The vehicle then continued N/B striking and severing a gas meter for the apartment building.

The driver of the vehicle, a female 41 years old of Chicago, was treated on the scene by Park Ridge paramedics. She was then transported to Lutheran General Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.  Her injuries are not life threatening.  Park Ridge Fire Fighters were deployed and the building was evacuated for approximately one hour, until a NICOR crew responded to the scene to safely cap the gas leak caused by the damage to the gas meter.  There is no indication that drugs or alcohol played a role in this accident. At this time the driver has been cited for several driving violations, including failure obey a stop sign, driving with a suspended license, and operation of an uninsured motor vehicle.

Park Ridge Building inspectors surveyed the building following the NICOR’s response and the removal of the vehicle and related  the residents could reoccupy the building.
