Biking to Transit StationsAvoid parking hassles and try riding to the train station!

Bike parking is available at both the Park Ridge and Dee Road Metra stations.  In general, bikes are allowed on Metra trains outside of rush hour. Click here for Metra's bike policy.  Bike parking is also available at the Cumberland and Harlem CTA stations, including inside the stations.  Click here for information on CTA's Bike & Ride Initiatives.

Bike SafetyIt is important to always ride safely.  Ride with traffic, not against it.  Use hand signals and eye contact to communicate with drivers.  Cyclists have the same rights to the road as cars.  Traffic laws, signs, and signals also apply to cyclists - ignoring them hurts the public perception of bikers.

Children and adults should always wear a bike helmet.  Advocate Children’s Hospital offers a yearly program where families can purchase toddler, youth, and adult bicycle and multi-sport helmets for $11. Free fitting services are also available.  Please visit Advocate Lutheran General Hospital's website for more information.

Potholes are dangerous to cars and bikes alike.  Call the Park Ridge Public Works Service Center at (847) 318-5240 to report potholes.

Bike RegistrationResidents may register their bicycles at no charge with the Police Department. Bring your bike to the Police Station entrance at 200 Vine Avenue to fill out a registration form.

Please provide the brand name, the model, style, and the size of the bike. A tag will be issued to place on your bike and you will receive a copy of the registration. Bicycle registration greatly increases your chance of recovering your bike if it is ever lost or stolen.
